Mikan is what the Japanese call mandarins that are seedless and easy-to-peel. This variety is Tango, invented at the University of California at Riverside. 

Introducing California Mikan. 

The grove sits at roughly 1,300 feet in the De Luz hills of Temecula. Each tree is climbed to and picked by hand, the way farmers in Japan's Kii region have grown mikan for centuries.
